Yezbie Kassa Brihanu

Dr.Yezbie Kassa is an associate professor of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences at the University of Gondar. She has taught and supervised over 29 graduate students and was instrumental in founding the MSc and PhD programs in her field. Her research, focused on freshwater ecosystem challenges—especially water hyacinth in Lake Tana—has contributed to sustainable solutions like clean energy, handicrafts, and biofertilizers. She has received 23 research grants, led six as principal investigator, and published 26 peer-reviewed articles. Currently, she leads two projects addressing aquatic environmental issues.
