Key Leadership contributions
- Effectively leading two key vice president offices(RCVP, CED) concomitantly for more than four months
- To leverage my leadership skills , I have recently completed a one year post graduate diploma in leadership(PGDL) course at University of Gondar
- Substantial contribution in program accreditation(1(anesthesia) accreditation granted,1(midwifery) under re-evaluation,3 other programs on final stage)
- Launched 2 additional new fellowship(sub-specialty) programs in radiology
- Key contribution in making our school of medicine a founding member at consortium of medical schools in Africa(COMS-A)
- Huge contribution in automation- effectively implemented computer based testing at CMHS and electronic medical recording in the hospital
- Demonstrated resilience and effective leadership at the hospital in times of crisis(during health care workers strike and in times of conflict and war)
- Established strong link and obtained substantial institutional support from key federal government offices (Eg. Ministry of finance, civil service, procurement and property agency) through which substantial supplementary budget secured, significant increment in staffing positions and recently granted an electronic government procurement(EGP) branch for GC campus
- Immense contribution in the implementation of prominent projects in the hospital- cancer radiotherapy center(the first of its kind in the region), artificial limb project(የሰው ሰራሽ እግር ማምረቻ), solid (modern Incinerator) and liquid waste treatment and potable water projects in the hospital
- Remarkable contribution in the effective implementation of security outsourcing and made it a model to the other campuses
Community Service Engagement
- Served the community as a clinician and mentor for more than a decade at public and private health care settings
- Involved in several humanitarian associations and community aids
Academic and research Excellence
- I have been teaching and advising graduate medical students, residents , master and PHD students
- Currently advising 5 PHD, 2 masters and 3 resident students
- Published over 30 articles in peer reviewed journals
- Involved in 3 external and 6 local research grant projects
- Currently serving as the Principal Investigator for UoG site and overall Project Management Committee member for the Global Health Research Group on Developing Strategies for Hepatitis C in Ethiopia (DESTINE). This is a collaborative research project being implemented by 8 western and Ethiopian universities that granted a full scholarship to 6 PHD students from Ethiopia (2 from UoG). Total grant fund = 2.2 million GBP.
